While walking along the seashore, I become mesmerized by what is washed onto the beach. The diverse mix of shells, bones, stones, and forms of sea life (like seaweed) are evidence of complex ecosystems. I enjoy learning about them, their relationships, and observing their beauty. This series titled, Trace Elements, gave me the opportunity to see the grace in this common seaweed. My meticulous drawings enlarge the forms and portray them in an enigmatic field of washes that suggest the push and pull of ocean waves.
