This is a close up view through my living room window of the now enormous cherry tree on my front lawn. I planted this tree approximately 30 years ago, and it has been the subject of 4 major paintings so far
A celebration of spring in full bloom, Kwanzan #1 immerses the viewer in a cascade of cherry blossoms—layers upon layers of soft pink petals reaching toward an open sky. David Peikon’s brushwork captures both the lush fullness and delicate individuality of each bloom, creating a rich tapestry of color, light, and life.
Vibrant green leaves weave through the flowering branches, adding rhythm and contrast, while glimpses of sky peek through in quiet blue tones, anchoring the composition in place and time.
The painting evokes a fleeting moment of natural perfection—when the world feels suspended in beauty and abundance. It invites stillness, joy, and a sense of renewal, echoing the timeless power of nature’s most extravagant bloom.
