This painting is from my Drifting Series. These paintings portray grasses or reeds floating in fields of water and air. Their movement is directed by diverse forces in nature such as tidal flow, undercurrents, and wind. The inspiration for this imagery came to me while kayaking and dealing with multiple conditions simultaneously - paddling with the water current, but against the wind, and noticing various rhythms of elements responding to the conflicting influences. I find this a poetic metaphor for maneuvering through life.
