This leporello accordion book is composed of six mokuhanga woodcut prints of California birds on Japanese washi with black mat board covers in an edition of six, signed in white on the back cover. The paper is made in Echizen, Japan, with Japanese kozo fiber, purchased from Hiromi Paper. The woodcuts are based on photographs taken by the artist in Santa Cruz, California. The images were adjusted and transferred to blocks of shina plywood for cutting, then each block was printed twice on a sheet. The birds are all common California birds: Blue Heron, Black Phoebe, Brandt's Cormorant, another Black Phoebe, Belted Kingfisher, and a soaring White-tailed Kite. The book was printed and bound by the artist in her New York studio in March, 2024.
