"It is important to hold, and make visible, the ailing parts of the body so that we may find solace and healing. By stripping away the politicized nature of an individual's appearance – and leaving only organs – these soft sculptures reveal stories of neglect and malpractice without the barriers of Identity Politics. Crafted from fabric, they confront us with the lived realities of survey-takers whose voices were silenced by indifferent healthcare practitioners. Their anonymity, and universality, push us towards empathy and self-identification within the work. They also challenge the societal shame attached to genitalia and highly gendered issues such as eating disorders and period pain management. "
