Eamonn Ceannt: Born in Galway in 1881. A co-founder of the Irish Volunteers. He was involved in the successful Howth gun-running operation of 1914. He was very interested in Irish culture, especially the Irish language & history as well as an accomplished uileann piper. He was the commander of the Fourth Battalion of Irish Volunteers during the rising & took possession of the South Dublin Union, or what we now know as St James Hospital. Executed on 8 May 1916.
