Oil painting on canvas of an abstracted desert landscape titled 'Mesa' by Taos modernist Louise Ganthiers (1907-1982) in palette of purple, turquoise, orange, and ochre. Original oak frame. Born in New York City, Ganthiers studied at the Art Students League and the Brooklyn Museum. She moved to Taos, New Mexico in 1949 and became a founding member of the Taos Art Association in 1952. She is considered one of the "Taos Moderns", a group of artists working in the 40s, 50s and 60s including Agnes Martin. Beatrice Mandelman, and Janet Lippincott.
