The Deer Creek Bridge near our home spans the Gallatin River in the Canyon and is known for summertime bridge jumping. The lady who commissioned this piece wanted her 4 kids shown jumping when they were teenagers. The painting is 30"x30" and involved a man-made object, namely the bridge. I gridded this out on dining room table on a sheet of drafting paper, using strings to define perspective and vanishing point. Whew! Perspective is always difficult for me, and thus, the reason I struggle with man-made objects. Then, I transferred to the panel which hubby custom made. Layers and layers of work went into this, and I regret that I did not photograph and document the process.
