This portrait is one of a series of my youngest daughter Bec. I have painted her often and have come to realise she is a key to unlock hidden truths of my younger self. Just as Bec leaves behind her teen years my own fragile teenage memories fight for my attention. In an attempt to capture some of these fleeting impressions of my 1970-80’s adolescent landscape, I have styled these portraits reminiscent of this era. I am hoping to not only better understand the wonderful insights that can be found by delving into the shadows of my past but to give them voice and power.
