This was done in acrylics on canvas, which I am not too familiar with, but so happy that I persevered with it. My daughter gave it to her friend as a gift and got the best response I could ever wish for as she said that she and her family are in love with the painting. My heart is warm knowing that something I have created has brought joy to another. I battled to really get the rich colours in the photo, and the varnish made the colours really pop. I took some close ups to try to show some of the iridescent parts and the gold accents, but it just doesn't pick it up as the eye does in reality. Reference photo purchased from Fotolia.
