The reference photo supplied by my client was very indistinct taken of little Tilly in her favourite pose in the car, with nose in the air. Unfortunately this was in-memorandum (a gift from daughter to mum of mum's dog). The photo was very dark and hard to see the features, but by lightening it, I managed to get enough information to figure it out and I added some reflected colour to help it to pop. My client and her mum loved it.
