This was such a lot of fun to paint. I used newly learned techniques using oil under the pastel and then scratched through for the hair and markings. Loved the freedom and expression that this technique gave me. I wanted to do a bison as the subject as I'd recently seen them in the snow when visiting amazing Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. The snow was thawing in the valleys and the bison's coats were so shaggy as they began to shed. Reference thanks to Skeeze @ Pixabay.
