I was doing an online course using greyscale in pastels and decided on just part of an elephant as the subject. By keeping it to greys, blacks and whites this gave me the opportunity to really concentrate on the textures and the lights and darks, really pushing the darks for the deep grooves and shadows. And the tusk gave that beautiful light relief to the piece.
