The original painting was created in about 2009. This ColorField painting was made better with the additional layer of detailed pieces of grass and blooms. The next layer was added about 8 years later and a third layer (blossoms) were added shortly thereafter. Most successful landscapes are more representational but i enjoy the process of color mixing (sometimes directly on the canvas) and it sometimes appears as a landscape although that is rarely my original intention. When i find an element that can be transformed in to a landscape, i add a layer or two, accordingly until a picture emerges. The result is something of a hybrid: Somewhat representational, yet abstract. If i wanted something realistic, i would just take a photograph.
