One of the first paintings I completed (in an afternoon) when we arrived in Sonoma County, August 2012. Colors of a chardonnay vineyard. Curiously: back to the geometric shapes that I hadn't noticed in many of my paintings until recently. The geometry - although "imperfectly" rendered balances the abstract elements of the painting to provide some organization. Mirrors the conflict felt between my regimented military career and the loose-flying brushwork of my second career in painting.
