Strength and Stormclouds

Michelangelo would have loved Crossfit athletes! I hoped to channel the Renaissance master in this work, depicting a chiseled and handsome athlete about to strike a tire with a sledgehammer. The painting is reminiscent of the Norse god Thor, who wields a hammer and is associated with strength, storms, and oak trees. 24x36", oil on panel.
