The blue seen here is cyanotype on watercolor paper, which was placed beneath a silk cyanotype, so this is actually the drips that were left behind. I just finished reading a book on John Cage and Zen Buddhism, and I was very inspired by his "chance operation" drawings, so I used those blue drips as a starting point. I used gold ink and aerial photos of rocks as inspiration for the line drawings. The hexagons are a fractal pattern that I have been investigating for a while now, but I wanted to experiment with drawing in space. I used the delicate white strings as both structural support and visual element, and they are held into the frame by gold beads that are held to the outside edge of the frame.
