Beneath this surface, another painting breathes, unfinished, unresolved, never quite let go. A water scene, begun and set aside, that lived for years in the studio without ever finding its end. Not every painting arrives at its destination. Some wait. This one waited until a new vision grew over it, layer by layer, orange rising through blue like something finally breaking the surface. The incompleteness was not failure. It was patience. What could not be finished alone became the foundation for something larger: a conversation between two moments in time, two different hands, two different selves. Each layer added here was a decision, to stay with the canvas, to trust what was already there, to let the old work breathe through the new rather than disappear beneath it. This is the last painting in the series, and perhaps the most honest. It holds a long story.
