Geometric Edgar Allan Poe By Angie Jones. (Based on the public domain photograph by 1849 "Annie" daguerreotype of Poe)
“Every poem should remind the reader that they are going to die.” ~ Edgar Allan Po
This piece vibrates when viewed with 3D glasses.
Like most artists, my interest in appropriation is to translate the work through a modern lens and through my own visual language. The remix of the original statement of Poe's daguerreotype comes from my indulgence in Poe's work. I just love the literature. Fashioning his face inside a 3D orb and painting him with pink neon changes the usual interpretation of Poe as a morbid, dark, greenish tone. The globe is painted to come forward when you view this through anaglyph glasses.
