This piece had unique inspiration. My friend NJ gave me brass letters and numbers and keys. I was planning my mosaic around the theme of 'opened doors' as opportunities, using the keys. However, when I dumped the letters and numbers out of the coffee tin, the first ones I pulled out spelled, "Knock 44 Times." This séance-like event inspired me to change the theme to 'opening doors.' In other words, 'open doors' implies that opportunities are in front of you, waiting. But, in contrast, you can also knock on a lot of doors to create your own opportunities. The latter perspective reflects how I've approached my life AND how I encourage others to craft their own destinies by knocking on a lot of doors, even as many as 44!
