In this collection of wearable and displayable fiber artworks, I explore the intersection of the metaphysical and the material world. Each piece serves as an altar, inviting the viewer or wearer to step into a space of reflection, intention, and spiritual connection. I am deeply inspired by sacred imagery relating to the heart and eyes; in my work these are considered as protective elements.
The fiber elements of the altars are crafted primarily from materials chosen for their sustainability and connection to the earth including DMC Eco-Vita wool thread, inherited/thrifted embroidery flosses and wool felt. The Eco-Vita organic wool thread is dyed using infusions of natural ingredients such as walnut, rhubarb, indigo, and juniper.
Each piece is sturdy, lightweight and versatile; they can adorn clothing, bags, hats, walls, tabletops or (for the pieces with clips) hair. I've offered similar pieces at pop up markets in Santa Fe and online since 2023; what I love about these pieces is how they resonate with people of all ages.
