Charreada by Ana Stapleton, Image 1.
Charreada is a traditional, highly skilled Mexican rodeo, recognized as the national sport of Mexico. Originating from the equestrian, ranching, and livestock traditions of 16th-century Spanish haciendas, charreada focuses on style, precision, and horsemanship rather than just speed. I was mesmerized by the mystery and elegance of the female riders (charra escaramuza) as a kid, and still am.
