As one begins to face repressed/suppressed emotions that have previously been numbed by addiction, there can be a deep sadness that becomes evident. This piece was previously titled "Melting My Frozen Heart". Then I realized that mourning of numbed experiences must occur first before the true melting (healing) can ensue; I changed the title to more accurately convey this thought.
This must've been the true message of this piece all along as evidenced by the funereal styling I chose, though I did not consciously intend this from its early conception. Exposing the fragility of our human hearts is daunting at best and requires courage on a daily basis.
