We are familiar with the image of a cup overflowing as a metaphor for blessings. And I hope we are aware of how many people in the world still don’t have easy access to clean water. Abundance is both that common metaphor and also a reminder of the literal gift of hot and cold water whenever we want it. We have the privilege of living in this time and this place. Things are hardly ever easy but they can still be times of blessing and abundance if we have eyes to see the good in them.

"Abundance" is an oil painting on a primed cradled birch wood panel. I directed the shoot for the reference photo. The image was printed and traced onto the panel. There are 3-4 distinct layers of oil paint which creates that smooth finish and rich velvety colors. The painting is then varnished to create even shine and protect the painting from dirt. Painting took 3 months, excluding preparation time such as priming the panel and getting the reference photo.
