Growing up in a Philadelphia, Ione was always fascinated by the Colonial period of American history. The American flag was a particular point of interest, stimulated by several visits to Betsy Ross’ house as a child. As she become older and learned that the flag symbolized different things to different people, she became intrigued by the way diverse populations defined the symbol. This piece is a perceptual study of the flag’s stripe variations.
