Silk purse made by Nancy Bayard Macbeth (1809-1889) of Ohio and Chicago, Illinois. Includes written note of provenance, which indicates that Nancy made the purse at The Rocks, the Macbeth family's New Hampshire summer estate. Note was likely written by Nancy's niece, Frances Glessner Lee (1878-1962), who was famous for creating The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death.
