World War 1 British Medal trio nicknamed Pip, Squeak and Wilfred after popular cartoon characters of the day. The group consists of the 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

The 1914-1915 Star was awarded to all who served in the British and Imperial forces in any theater of the First World War against the Central European Powers during 1914 and 1915.

The British War Medal was award to those who had rendered service between Aug. 5th 1914, the day following the British declaration of war against the German Empire, and the armistice of Nov. 11th 1918, both dates inclusive.

Each nation that participated in the first World War awarded a victory medal. While each was unique to the awarding nation there were some agreed upon common features including a winged figure of victory on the obverse and the same ribbon.

This trio was awarded to Corp. A. Flanagan. His service number was 9661 and he served in the Cheshire Regiment.
