Inscribed "Pierre de la Mer Morte," meaning "Rock of the Dead Sea," as the cup is literally lathe-turned from Dead Sea rock. It was intended as a Pilgrim souvenir for the French market. Numerous carvings throughout, including a crusader's cross.
