1/6 plate daguerreotype depicting an elderly woman, possibly Margaret Smelser Ballard (1801-1870), wife of Bland Nixon Ballard Sr. (1800-1861) and mother of Eliza Jane Ballard (1824-1898). A tintype of an unidentified man was found in the case behind the daguerreotype, perhaps depicting Margaret's son, Bland Nixon/Neely Ballard (1834-1900).
