Photomontage depicting members of Adjutant William Kirkland Bacon's cadets. Bacon served in the 26th Regiment of the New York State Volunteers in the Civil War. He grew up in Utica, New York and attended Hamilton College from 1859-61 prior to the war. Bacon perished from wounds sustained at the Battle of Fredericksburg.
Ray W. Jones, the owner of the original photomontage, was a bank teller in Muskegon, Michigan at the time. He was born in Remsen, New York and eventually became Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota.
