Who has weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? This is one grand thought that I sometimes think, inspired by the words of an ancient one, the Prophet Isaiah, who said -
"Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? Who has measured [a] the Spirit..., or what man shows him his counsel?"
The Greatness, Vastness, Splendour... of the universe! But why these thoughts? Consider it with me...
The universe, its vastness, magnificence, and perfection - given to us. What is our place in it?
Plastic bags, the material used in this work, are omnipresent in my city, filling up landfills and gutters everywhere. I do wonder if we pay attention to this environmental problem?
Thousands of used plastic bags that hold the collective memories and histories of the many people who used them, those who sourced them, and all who assist in my work. The bags are calm, still, silent, yet very loud.
