During my residency at the Rattlesnake Creek Dam, every time I was on-site, this hummingbird was floating around, sometimes coming in close and obviously looking at me with some sort of curiosity. I felt greeted into the area by him as if he could see through all my gibberish and see me and why I was there.
The meaning of gibberish is abstract writing design that I hope will draw the person in and make them curious about the meaning and attempt to read what is in front of them only to find out they cannot and have a moment of what it is like to be dyslexic. Sometimes I feel people can't see me past my learning disabilities and the mental scars developed over time. I have started doing a cognitive therapy practice in some of my work by writing out the negative thought that I may be experiencing and then writing out a more positive outlook on the situation. That process created the background of this painting. I find this puts me in a meditative state that opens me up to my artwork.
