This piece originally draws inspiration from my exploration of growth and transformation in nature. One process that particularly captivates me is the metamorphosis of a butterfly, especially the dramatic moment it emerges from its cocoon. As I started to work on this piece I realized that I was focusing more on the abstract shape of structures such as the cocoon and the pattern of color implanted on the butterfly's wings. Using materials such as broken CDs,
wire, discarded plastic bottles, and cardboard, I aimed to capture the four key stages of this remarkable journey while emphasizing patterns, color, and configuration. Through this sculpture, I sought to highlight the vibrant colors and intricate shapes that define both the breaking of the
cocoon and the butterfly's delicate emergence.
