Reminder: You Are Safe to Explore Your Depths captures the creative energy right before a storm. The way the air feels electric, the promise of dramatic light shows hangs heavy, and the darkened world opens up to rain—and along with it, change and growth.

I created this piece in February 2021, when spring storms were melting the snow around my studio. Although true spring would not come to Minnesota for several more months, this painting holds promise of the fresh energy of winter’s end and the growth that comes from embracing, not fighting, our darker days.
