Made in the spring of 1974, Swings was included in the first official show of the Electron Movers, held at the Rhode Island School of Design auditorium during a three-day film/video thesis festival. The imagery in this piece was created through one camera recording playground swings in motion while a second camera pointed at the monitor rescans. The loop delay that results from this process, called video feedback, is responsible for the shifting, kaleidoscopic visual patterns.
The video was shot using 1/2" EIAJ reel-to-reel Sony AV and processed through the Templeton video mixer/Quantizer/colorizer.
