The inspiration for this landscape was an afternoon spent at the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia nearly five years ago. We arrived with a busload of tourists with the intent of swimming in the colourful, fast-moving waters. I remember spotting this woman sitting alone writing in a journal while sipping coffee. The fellow she's staring at was a tourist whose body was covered in tattoos. He looked like a B-movie swamp thing emerging from a lagoon.
