My husband and I got up several mornings at 5.00am to see the sunrise. We chose Taylor Slough so we could get an unobstructed view of the sky and the sawgrass prairie. On the particular morning this painting depicts, the low clouds and awakening sky created an array of oranges, pinks and violets that was breathtaking. I took a whole series of photographs, from the time of the barest light to full sun. I chose this image to use as a resource for my painting because of the way the sawgrass glowed as the sun rose.
