I have been writing for most of my life. I am basically a poet, which means that in my work I seek the metaphorical connections between things. I try to think like a poet. that is to see and record details in the passing scene that might otherwise go unnoticed. My work focuses on connection-the ecology between observer and observed, between history and place, nature and individual. I am interested in borders-between countries, civilizations, and as it exists in what earthworks artist Robertson Smythson called the Sund, the zone between the suburban and the wild. Currently in my work I am trying to capture the layers of experience that we call bring to our lives. In particular, I am examining how memory infuses and changes the present moment. Often the images of water and the ocea fuel my work- those images of transformation and change.
