
Arsimmer McCoy, is a poet, educator, creative programmer, cultural worker, performance & collaborative artist, from Richmond Heights, Fl. McCoy’s work echoes conversations about identity, self-reflection, human interaction, legacy, and grace. Ms. McCoy holds a BA in English from Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens, Florida. McCoy’s writings delve into her experiences of growing up in Miami; exploring it’s nuances through storytelling. Arsimmer currently works as the Director of Programming for Bookleggers; a nonprofit mobile library creating programming that finds various ways for the community to gain access to books. Arsimmer has been a teaching artist for 5+ years, working alongside veteran educators in public schools, with the goal of intertwining creative programming and state based curriculum, with organizations such as Scrap paper Inc, O,Miami Sunroom Poetry, Honeyshine Camp, Urgent Inc., and Miami Dade public library. McCoy creates & facilitates workshops in creative writing. Her newest Workshop series “Make a Masterpiece of Me|Using Poetry to empower people, places, and things”, doubles as a course on the intricacies of poetry while incorporating dialogue on culture, personal experiences, & activism. McCoy is a part of the summer cohort artist residency at Bakehouse Art Complex, the recipient of the 2021 Miami Foundation racial equity grant, and Locust Project’s 2021 Wavemaker grant recipient. When Arsimmer is not writing she is working on her passion project of turning her home into an museum/exhibition space, and mothering her 11 year old daughter who dances like fire.
