American painter and 2016 AIRIE Fellow, Elisabeth Condon, was selected for the first inaugural Gallery Nest exhibition, entitled Blooming World. Condon, who expertly combines disparate paint applications and materials to re-interpret landscape for an information-saturated world, states: “AIRIE confirms that paint is more than metaphor; it is a scientific study of water flows and atmosphere. How does a pour reticulate around a shoreline of color? What medium and pigment combination echoes the symbiosis of periphyton and water? When unlike colors mix and harness light or texture, do these fortuitous accidents behave as copper leaves or lichen?” The exhibit held 17 new works with select specimens from the South Florida Collections Management Center.
