John Trevorrow x
John’s artistic influences come from the work of Mark Rothko and W Turner. Abstract and minimalism play an important role in his work. John is a self taught artist, formally known as John Downie. He now paints under the name John Trevorrow. His main inspirations come from the coastlines and dramatic skies of his homeland, Scotland. John’s work has been described as very tranquil and peaceful with fresh vibrant flowing colours.
John is an innovative artist whose work embodies the spirit of both the rugged Scottish landscapes and the rebellious energy of punk rock. As an abstract seascape and landscape artist, he captures the wild beauty of Scotland's coasts, lochs, and highlands, distilling their essence into dynamic compositions that resonate with both chaos and serenity. His paintings are marked by bold textures, vibrant colours, and a raw emotional intensity that reflects his punk rock roots.
Now seen as an O.A.P “Old Age Punk” John channels the same defiant attitude and unrestrained creativity into his art. His works often exposes the untamed natural elements with an edgy, urban sensibility, creating a unique fusion that is both striking’ thought-provoking and illusionary. Whether depicting stormy seas crashing against rocky shores or tranquil lochs reflecting snow-capped peaks, his paintings evoke a sense of movement and power, mirroring the pulse of punk rock music.
