This painting was an idea that I had had for some time. It’s the decision of the viewer as to whether the tear depicts happiness or sadness. The combination of the eye, the tear, and the reflections in both I found satisfying to paint. The flowers in the hair have been influenced by Gustav Klimt’s paintings of beautiful women, he is one of my favourite artists.
