My Urban Ritual series further reflects the transformation of self, the courage to delve into the hidden parts of our being, the shadow self, the dark night of the soul. To accept all parts of our own selves brings balance to the whole. This integration and union of the dark and the light, the weak and strong, the difficult and easy, is what is reflected in my process. By illuminating the depths of the darkness, a completely new form and spirit is created.
My art works are power objects, ritual pieces honoring the creative spirit. This work comes from inside me, from my life experiences and materials in my environment. This isn't about the status quo, the latest fad or the American dream, this is about stepping outside of your comfort zone, pushing the boundaries, taking a risk and living your personal vision. It recognizes those people who value original thinking; the independent ones who have the courage to stand up for what they believe in and express it.
