Artist: Jean-Philippe Duboscq (b. 1960)
Born in 1960, Jean-Philippe Duboscq is an artist based in Brussels. He graduated from the Ecle Nationale Superieure Des Arts Visuels De La Camre, where he started his art journey with pictural researches on materiology, using hessian, unground pigments, pumic stone and sand.
Duboscq’s work aims to bring pictoral matter as close as possible to physical constraints and showcase freedom in order to give room to the unexpected. This can be seen in the fluid and diaphanous backgrounds made from paint runs and absorption, and in his brisk and bold writings. This movements lead him to resistance, deviations, a distortion of the form of which the subject is painting. He creates a world in a bebop tempo, blurred, made of saturated colours and syncopated rhythms, of which the space in perspective opens to an internal light.
