Massachusetts resident, WEB Dubois, inspired me to paint this portrait with his activism and intellectual excellence.
Du Bois was the first African-American to earn a doctorate at Harvard University and was a founding member of the NAACP. He fought hard for the rights of African Americans and pursued the ideas of equality. This resonates with me, because I have fought to ensure opportunities for the teens of Boston and recognize the need to mentor the next generation of young leaders that will hopefully raise their collective voices to make positive change in the world.
