John Wilson stood out to me for this piece because his work is popular but we never really see him. John Wilson changed the lives of many black artists in Boston. The symbol in the background is named “Sesa Wo Suban” the adinkra for change and new beginnings, like the gift of hope he gave artists like him in his community.
