Sauce boat, 8 x 3.75 x 3.25 inches. Blue-gray transfer. Printed maker's mark for Alfred Meakin. This pattern consists of a simple sketched design of tiny flowers, buds, and leaves hanging upside down. The border is double: the border around the "neck" is a repetition of a leaf, while the upper border is a sequence of vines and flowers.
The Royal Albert Works were established by Alfred Meakin, Tunstall in 1881. Mr. Meakin bought the works formerly occupied by Turner & Tompkinson. Mr. Meakin died in January 1902.
