Soup plate, 9.5 inches diameter. Brown transfer. Unknown maker. In this border-only pattern, there is a butterfly and a wasp-like insect in the center of the soup bowl. The larger border is full of Japonesque objects such as two fans, one of which shows two Japanese children cuddling together. An ivy vine meanders behind and in front of the fans and a second butterfly hovers nearby. The smaller border to the left features persimmons, backed by small branches with leaves.
