Godden’s Encyclopedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks lists the Ceramic Art Co. Ltd. as 'decorators,' however a number of trade directories list them as 'Art pottery manufacturers' and newspaper adverts give the impression that they were manufacturers. F. Percy Thompson was the Managing Director and J. W. Cooper was listed as Manager. The company was incorporated as a Limited Company c. 1892. The business suffered financial difficulty and ceased trading in 1903. After bankruptcy the business was continued as the Ceramic Art Co. (1905) Ltd., which relocated to the Crown Pottery in Stoke.
