Pitcher, 8 inches tall. Brown transfer with polychrome clobbering. Unknown maker. One side of the pitcher shows a country scene inside a square cartouche including trees, hills and a cottage. Surrounding this cartouche are wild grasses and branches with small pink flowers with yellow centers and green leaves. A blue ribbon passes through a hole at the top of the cartouche which appears to rest on a gray stone plaque and classical golden shell with Greek key design beneath. Interestingly, the opposite side of the jug shows another country scene inside an irregular or broken cartouche with similar surrounding materials. A blue ribbon is interwoven with the branches above the cartouche and a golden scroll appears underneath. The front of the pitcher shows a small vignette of a trellis with trailing plants found under the spout. The border is a geometric design dominated by rows of alternating light and dark triangles with dots inside, along with rows of smaller triangles, lines and arrows. The same main triangle design is found on the handle.
